Five years back, Hayden Kristal welcomed a deaf and blind dog named Bitsy into her home. However, her father Steve had concerns about the dog’s quality of life and whether she would be able to move around independently. Nonetheless, his worries were put to rest the moment he met the lively and cheerful dog.
According to Kristal, her pet has always been independent. As she narrates to The Dodo, on the day she brought the animal home, she immediately headed for the food bowl and ate until she fell asleep.
Bitsy has proved to be anything but a helpless dog, defying her grandpa’s expectations. Accompanied by her mom, she has traveled across the country, indulging in various outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, using the metro, and even skating. Kristal proudly declares her dog to be the kindest, friendliest, most affectionate, and dedicated creature in the world, possessing courage, spunk, and an insatiable hunger for adventure. Kristal’s father is genuinely smitten with his granddog and never misses an opportunity to hang out with her.
According to Kristal, her furry friend has a number one fan and supporter in her dad. He never tires of singing her praises and gushing over how amazing she is. In fact, he loves spoiling her with treats and toys, and Bitsy adores spending time with him.
However, when COVID restrictions were imposed last year, their lives came to a standstill. One of the toughest hurdles for Kristal and Bitsy was being unable to visit family members, including her father.
After almost a year had passed, Bitsy’s heartwarming reunion with her grandpa finally took place.
