On Christmas Eve 22, a pregnant cat named Nata was abandoned in front of IAPA. She is estimated to be around 8 weeks pregnant and close to giving birth.
Instituto Amor em Patas (IAPA) discovered her in a state of extreme weakness, unable to stand up and visibly terrified. She took some time to calm down once they found her. Her previous owner had abandoned her due to fear of her upcoming puppies. Initially, she was so protective that she used up all her energy to keep the shelter volunteers at bay, but eventually, she let her guard down and became friendly and sociable.
“Check out her stomach – there could be around 13 or 14 little ones in there. We’re trying to arrange a test for her tomorrow since she’s not feeling too great.” Mentioned one of the volunteers.
Tonight is going to be a marathon night for Natajuli and for all of us. We are getting ready for her ultrasound to make sure everything is going smoothly. Natajuli is going back to the shelter with the necessary support for giving birth to her babies, and she does it successfully – the first baby is a very lively little boy.
“Could you try to tally up the number of puppies? Natajuli recently welcomed 14 adorable little ones into the world.” Natajuli and her precious litter of 14 puppies went to the veterinarian for a quick examination, ultrasound, and blood work, and the proud mama looked a bit flushed. The puppies are all chubby and weigh quite a bit. “I was on the verge of tears when I saw Natajuli’s happy face, surrounded by her beautiful babies – they are just too cute, I can’t help but want to give them all kisses.”
“I totally spaced on giving names to the 14 adorable little things – naming them is proving to be quite the challenge! If you enjoy naming things, feel free to suggest a name you love in the comments below!”
